BRIAN PETERSON

Board Chair

Brian Peterson is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in operating trust company businesses in British Columbia. He founded Community Western Trust, now Truvera Trust Corporation, and also owns and operates a successful mortgage brokerage firm. Brian's extensive background in banking and trust administration, coupled with his education from the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia, make him a valuable asset to any organization. He has also served as President of the Mortgage Brokers Association of British Columbia, President of the Mortgage Brokers Institute of British Columbia, and as a director of  Mortgage Professionals Canada.

SAMANTHA GALE

CEO and Board Director

Samantha Gale is a highly qualified regulatory expert with extensive knowledge in mortgage and real estate issues, lending practices, and finance law and regulation. With a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, specializing in banking and financial law, and a law degree from the University of British Columbia, Samantha has a deep understanding of financial transactions, trusts and estates. As the former CEO of the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association - BC and the Mortgage Brokers Institute of BC, she has a wealth of experience in the Canadian mortgage and finance industry. Samantha's expertise shines through in every conversation, making her one of the most knowledgeable figures in the field. She also played a prominent role in the Cullen Commission, advocating for modernized legislation with balanced rules that serve their intended purpose. Much of Samantha's expertise stems from her 15-year stint with the BC Financial Institutions Commission (FICOM, now BCFSA), a regulatory agency of the province’s Ministry of Finance, which gave her the opportunity to take a “deep dive” into various statutes and legal issues.

CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

We govern Veracite with trust and transparency.

We are committed to high standards of corporate governance. Our Board is comprised of highly qualified professionals with requisite financial, legal and regulatory skills that are needed to effectively oversee a financial institution. They are expected to set strategy, oversee management, establishes risk appetite and to work closely with auditors.  Each board director has been carefully vetted to ensure they meet stringent regulatory standards. Our Board believes in achieving good governance in a transparent, independent and ethical manner.


The Board exercises authority in accordance with the Financial Institutions Act under a standing business authorization issued by the BC Financial Services Authority.


In addition to quarterly board meetings, the Board meets regularly through various standing committees to support strong oversight of the organization. These committees include:

  • Investment Committee

  • Governance and Code of Conduct
